Homemade Cronuts with Lemon Glaze
Cronuts are truly a labor of love. Either make them for yourself or for someone you love. I made them recently for a friend.
Just know that they are best on the same day. ENJOY!!
Cronuts consists of buttery, flakey layers. Deep-fried (I baked them), have a crisp exterior, while the inside remains soft and delicate. The donuts are rolled in sugar and topped with a lemon glaze. Each donut is rather tall, as you can visibly see from the exterior, the endless number of layers within.
You can buy a puff pastry sheet at your local supermarket. If you want the recipe for the dough, please write a DM.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a large rectangle, flipping the dough throughout to get an even roll and adding a sprinkle of flour with each flip, making a four-turn folder.
Using a donut-cutter or cookie-cutter, cut out your cronuts and gently transfer them to a parchment-lined baking sheet, placing them 4cm apart. Cover the baking sheets with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
Pre-heat the oven at 170°c, and bake them for 15-20 min. or until golden brown. Once the cronuts are cool enough to handle, roll the donuts in sugar, covering completely.
For the lemon glaze, mix 1 1/4 cups powder sugar, 2 tbsp milk, 1 tbsp lemon juice, Zest of 1 lemon, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Whisk all of the ingredients together in a small bowl. Drizzle the glaze over the top of the donuts
It looks so good 👍
