After several attempts and numerous failed scones. I have finally come up with a technic for British Buttermilk Scones that works perfectly and approved by friends. The recipe was passed to me by a British friend.

300gr All-purpose flour sifted.
1 level tsp baking powder
50gr butter, diced and chilled
25gr golden caster sugar
Milk to glaze
Orange marmalade to serve
Preheat the oven to 220°C
Put the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl and mix. Add the butter and rub it in until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs.
add sugar and buttermilk and use a knife to mix everything quickly. Knead lightly on a floured board and shape into a round.
Roll out the dough to about 2.5cm thickness. Using a lightly floured round plain cutter. Stamp out around and repeat this process.
Put rounds on two greased baking sheets, brush tops with milk and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden and risen.
I like to eat them with butter and jam or marmalade.
